I like to think that I am a fairly organized person. My kids are ready for school on time everyday. I have meals planned ahead of time. Uniforms clean prior to games. Everybody gets where they need to go, when they need to be there. So why is it EVERY DAY, I have to lose my freaking mind to get us out the door to practices and activities.
As soon as the kids walk in the door, I say, “Okay, we have an hour or whatever before we have to go.” Let’s start homework, have a snack, get uniforms on, whatever needs to be done. And it never fails, that 45 minutes later, I am losing my crap!
I have uniforms laying out ready for them to put on. Short of doing their homework FOR them and physically dressing them, I am at a loss! I am like a cheerleader from 3:30-4:30. “Come on…you can do it!” “Get that homework done!” But apparently my kids do not understand this language. They wait until 5 minutes before we need to leave, then remember they were supposed to read…or have to poop!
So, I lose my mind. I start yelling, occasionally a bad word may come out of my mouth, and I am for all intents and purposes…CRAZY! Then, and only then, do my kids start moving. I’m not sure if they don’t hear me or don’t believe me that we actually have a schedule or what?? But I am convinced that they really only listen when I LOSE MY MIND!
Should just start yelling as soon as they come in the house? I do hear other moms complain of similar problems, so I don’t know that it’s necessarily my crappy parenting, but maybe. Maybe they think it’s funny to see me go crazy? I’m not really sure. But today is the day, I will keep my crap together before baseball.
Or maybe not….
