Have you been watching the news lately? Or just scrolling through Facebook or Twitter? Have you noticed it’s gotten kind of ugly out there?
I did too.
I find that I have to make a conscious effort to step away from it a bit. I want to be aware of what’s going on. And I want to speak up and stand up for what I think is right. Just simple things: like Being Kind. Don’t shoot your classmates at school. Help people who are sick, homeless, or have less than you. Treat people with respect- like all of them, regardless of race, religion, gender, etc…
Anyway, I had to step away. From the meanness. And from this blog a bit too. I noticed I kind of changed course in the midst of all the crap. There are enough posts, blogs, comments, articles, and all of the information about who’s right and who’s wrong and who hates whom. I didn’t need to keep consuming it, nor did I need to contribute to it.
But I thought I’d jump back in now. Not to contribute to the drama, but maybe as a bit of a reprieve from it. My kids are growing up. Life is changing. So my season of mothering is changing too. We are now dealing with high school, dating, driving, puberty, school issues, sports….so many things that are fun and awesome and terrifying. And really worth laughing at.
So I thought I’d come back to my original reason for this blog. For the reminder that even when life and parenting is hard and you feel like you are doing it all wrong….you are probably doing it better than me!
